PROGRAM INTRODUCTION:
This 5-day class follows content as listed in our Basic Boiler
Operations program but focuses on the "how and why" to safely operate a
boiler. Fundamentals are covered including types of boilers, and design
and components, such as valves, tubes, fans, dampers, compressors,
pumps, regulators, as well as temperature, pressure and water level
controls.
Besides the fundamentals, students learn about boiler water pathways,
the principles of combustion and thermodynamics and their relationship
to optimal boiler performance. Boiler procedures, safety, and water
chemistry are also discussed. The class then shifts gears to boiler
operations.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
-
Proper installation procedures of components
-
Reduce costs to outside contractors
-
Increased knowledge of industry terminology
-
Understanding diagrams and schematics
-
Reduce energy costs
-
Learn
burner management systems
-
How to
properly maintain boiler water chemistry to avoid scaling, pitting,
and other potential problems.
-
Start
ups and shut down sequences are discussed in detail
-
Learn
proper operational techniques including daily, weekly, monthly, and
yearly optimal boiler maintenance practices.
-
Combustion testing, inspection procedures
-
How to
appropriate boiler record keeping are also covered.
-
Learn
many valuable boiler operational techniques including the best ways
to achieve the highest possible efficiency rate while achieving low
Nox emissions
-
How to
reduce fuel costs, and how to properly maintain and extend the life
of the boiler.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Mechanical engineers, fire protection engineers and associations
