PROGRAM INTRODUCTION:

The major thrust of the CMTP program is to teach the participants how to develop contingency plans for emergency or crisis situations utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS) model.  During the program, the students will participate in numerous contingency planning exercises including a comprehensive practical exercise designed to prepare for a crisis.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The students will benefit from instruction in the following subjects:  Bomb Threat Planning and Response, Contemporary Issues ( Weapons of Mass Destruction), Contingency Planning, Criminal Information and Intelligence, Crisis Management, Demonstrations and Protests, Environmental and Animal Rights Extremist Groups, First Response, Terrorism Overview, and an Explosives Demonstration.  Courses pertaining to the threats of Man Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS) and Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED'S) have also been included in the program.  One of the major benefits the students realize from the programs offered by the Counterterrorism Division is the networking/information exchange which takes place among the students and the training staff.  The students and FLETC training staff members alike have diverse backgrounds coming from state, local or federal law enforcement agencies, and/or the military.
